June 27, 2008, Newsletter Issue #288: The Void

Tip of the Week

We think of filling the void left in our children's lives by not having a woman/man to turn to. We believe our shortcomings prevent us from giving them all they needed but could only get from a member of their own sex. Any person that was eager to offer themselves up to fill that position became an automatic candidate for future parenthood. And all the better for us if they had no ‘baggage?of their own so they could put all their effort and concentration into just children. This is a common misconception of single parents especially those of us that grew up in two parent homes. There are many other ways to fill this void for your children: Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Sunday School Teachers, Coaches, even the parents of the kids next door.
