How does a single parent working outside the home affect the kids?

Effect of Single Parent Working Outside the Home

Single parents should not be affected any more than dual-parent household where both parents work outside the home. In this day and age, it is uncommon and often unrealistic for a parent not to expect to work outside the home. When a person chooses to have a child, they also are choosing to take responsibility for the well being of that child. It is not the government's or anyone else's responsibility, it is ours. Being responsible means providing for your child's needs which includes the physical needs as well as the emotional needs.

Community is important to both single and dual-parents. We are not machines and there is nothing wrong with either (1) asking others for help or (2)helping other families in times of need. I hope you can be less hard on yourself. I can only imagine that you have created more strain on both yourself and your children by standing hard against this principal. Although I hope I'm here.

I'm not a single parent. My family income is quite high and yet I rely on the support of other moms and family members as I should. We're community.

Single parents pay taxes as well. Who is to say that their needs are exempt from tax supported programs where the welfare of their children should be a simple human concern for everyone? Life is not perfect. We all hit snags & what is the point of community if our response is to turn the other cheek when our neighbors (especially their children)need us most?
