March 27, 2009, Newsletter Issue #326: TV And Your Childīs Sleep

Tip of the Week

If your child is finding it hard to fall asleep at night or stay alert during the day, the problem may be too much TV. Research has found that children who have a TV in their bedroom and/or watch a lot of TV in the hours before bedtime are more likely to

- have trouble falling asleep
- wake up during the night
- sleep less
- resist going to bed

Good Parenting Action Points:

1) Monitor your childīs TV watching in the evening.

2) Replace close-to-bedtime TV watching with other activities like taking a bath or reading.
